I've begun my first pair of socks and so far, so good - this is a simple pattern, and I've become obssessed with, of all things, tiny double-pointed knitting needles.
To the right is the beginning of a "Yoga Sock" - I'm using amazing Crystal Palace bamboo double-pointed needles (these are size 5) but I cast on with even smaller needles - tiny, size 2 Bry-flex needles, which are plastic and it's a toss-up. I can't decide which I like better. Ethically, I know what I should be doing.
Interesting that I spent nearly a month knitting and unraveling a hat on needles five times bigger (yes I eventually finished it) - I would suggest that technique, actually, to any new knitter who wants to get the swing of DPNs and lives in terror (as I did): try it fisher-price style first! Last week I finished a hat that was done, at least partially, on size 13 double-pointed needles and VERY chunky yarn. As I've said on Ravelry already, it's like using the giant crayola crayons. Once you figure out how to color in the lines you can start using smaller crayons.
And speaking of tiny things, this tiny little pendant is today's featured item. This particular picture is not the prettiest - in fact, I haven't been able to catch its true glitz in a photo just yet, but you can get the general gist of the size here. It's one of my smallest pendants - wearable every day but sure to generate comment as it's comprised of fine silver and tiny hi-grade faceted garnets - sparkle happens no matter what direction the light hits it.
