I need advice from my knitting buddies.
A friend asked me to knit a sweater she was never able to accomplish. I took the pattern and the materials and brought it home. The problem? Well the pattern calls for you to use the invisible elastic in the ribbing (it's an older pattern). I've never used that, can't stand the stuff. I find that it disintegrates over time, and just becomes sticky. Do I need to use it? Is there something I can use/do instead? Any advice?

Where is the ribbing? The waist? Patterns don't ever use that these days, so I imagine it will turn out just fine without it. I'm no expert, but I'd say ignore it.

The good this is that it's cheap stuff and if it starts to disintegrate you just replace it.
