I need advice from my knitting buddies.

Where is the ribbing? The waist? Patterns don't ever use that these days, so I imagine it will turn out just fine without it. I'm no expert, but I'd say ignore it.

: )

If the ribbing is at the hem, neck or cuffs you'll need something stretchy to replace it or just do a regular cast on. It might be there to keep the ribbing from unraveling and so that you don't have a cast on or bind off row visible. Just guessing.

The good this is that it's cheap stuff and if it starts to disintegrate you just replace it.
